Rankins tallied five tackles (all solo), including three sacks, and forced a fumble during Houston's 30-27 win against the Bengals on Sunday.
Rankins had his best performance of the season Sunday, bringing down Joe Burrow three times. The 29-year-old was responsible for all but one of the team's QB takedowns and will look to build off his career-best performance in Week 11 versus the Cardinals.

Rankins will miss a second consecutive game due to the injury after logging limited practices throughout the week. His absence will leave a void in the interior of the team's defensive line when they take the field against Tampa Bay. Rankins (knee) is considered questionable to play in Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Rankins missed his first game of the season during last Sunday's loss to the Panthers due to a knee injury. The 29-year-old continued to deal with the issue as a limited participant throughout all three practices for Houston in Week 9, leaving his status up in the air against Tampa Bay. Rankins has accumulated 17 tackles, including a sack, through six games this season, and should he remain sidelined, then Khalil Davis, Kurt Hinish and Hassan Ridgeway could all be in line for increased playing time at defensive tackle.

Texans' Sheldon Rankins: Won't suit up Sunday
Rankins (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 8 matchup versus Carolina.
Rankins played 60 percent of Houston's defensive snaps Week 6 against New Orleans, but he came out of the Texans' Week 7 bye with a pair of DNPs around a limited practice session during Week 8 prep. His absence will be a blow to Houston's pass rush, and Kurt Hinish may take on more snaps as a result. Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Rankins' knee has shown improvement, and he's not expected to be out for an extended period.

Texans' Sheldon Rankins: Records first sack
Rankins registered six tackles, including two for a loss, and a sack in Sunday's 20-13 win over New Orleans.
With the Saints in the red zone, Rankins brought down Derek Carr for an 11-yard loss that forced a third-and-long situation, and New Orleans eventually settled for a field goal. Despite the defense giving up 446 yards, the sack was part of a bounce-back performance for the unit. Houston's defenders allowed just three second-half points (none in the fourth quarter) after letting Atlanta score two touchdowns in the final quarter of a Week 5 loss.

Texans' Sheldon Rankins: Back to full strength
Rankins (undisclosed) was activated from the active/non-football illness list Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Rankins will now be able to practice with his new team after spending the last two seasons with the Jets. The 29-year-old should be an integral piece of the interior of Houston's defensive line in 2023.
