Howard is expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing further testing on his injured knee Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Howard was carted off the field during Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. Despite optimism that the injury may not be severe, the 2019 first-round selection will ultimately need surgery to repair his left knee, but specifics of the injury are not yet known. The loss is a serious blow to a Texans' offensive line that has dealt with numerous injuries this season.

Texans' Tytus Howard: Will get imaging scans Monday
Howard is set to get scans on his injured left knee Monday morning, and there is "some hope" that he has avoided a severe injury, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Howard had to be carted to the locker room after hurting his knee late in the first quarter Sunday against Jacksonville, and he wasn't able to return to the game. While a significant injury remains a possibility, there is at least some optimism that the issue is less serious than initially feared. More should be known about Howard's status moving forward following the results of Monday's imaging scans.

Howard broke his hand in two places during training camp and required surgery. His healing process has been going as expected, and barring any setbacks, he should to be activated from IR following the league's four-game requirement. When he returns, he could step back into his natural right tackle spot. However, if Laremy Tunsil (knee) misses more time, he could fill in on the left side.

The standout right tackle will now have to sit out at least the first four weeks of the regular season as a result of his placement on IR. Until Howard is fully recovered from hand surgery and able to ditch his cast, veteran George Fant will be the presumed starter opposite left tackle Laremy Tunsil.

Howard (hand) is participating in Monday's practice with a cast, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Howard is recovering from hand surgery and working to be ready for Sunday's game against the Ravens. His status for Week 1 still ultimately looks uncertain, but it's certainly encouraging to see Howard at least back on the practice field. Josh Jones and George Fant will be options to start at right tackle if Howard is unavailable.
