Player Outlook
We're advising waiting until Round 9 in redraft to target Charbonnet, though to tell the truth it is a bit of a guessing game how Pete Carroll will employ his rookie alongside Kenneth Walker. It's not often a team uses a second-round pick on a running back in back-to-back years. Charbonnet showed better passing-game skills in college than Walker and is a bigger back, so it is entirely possible by the end of the year that the rookie is handling the majority of the high-value touches. Early in the year, we're expecting a 1A/1B situation, with Walker in the lead role. Charbonnet is worth a late first-round pick in one-quarterback rookie-only drafts but could fall to Round 2 in Superflex.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Gets back to limited Thursday

Charbonnet (knee) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Both Charbonnet and fellow RB Kenneth Walker (oblique) followed up no activity Wednesday with capped sessions one day later, giving them chances to be available Sunday at San Francisco. Charbonnet took on lead duties out of Seattle's backfield the last two games with Walker sidelined, but the rookie second-rounder also suffered a bruised knee in the fourth quarter last Thursday in Dallas. If either player is inhibited or out this weekend, there's a chance the Seahawks turn to DeeJay Dallas as their main running back.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: No activity Wednesday

Charbonnet (knee) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Both Charbonnet and fellow running back Kenneth Walker (oblique) were non-participants to begin Week 14 prep, but head coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that they took part in an earlier walk-through session, per Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. Charbonnet filled in for Walker as the Seahawks' lead back in the team's previous two games, combining for 157 yards from scrimmage and the first touchdown of his career on 38 touches. However, the rookie second-round pick made a late exit from last Thursday's loss in Dallas due to a bruised knee. With the state of the team's backfield up in the air, the current healthy backs on the active roster are DeeJay Dallas and Kenny McIntosh, while Bryant Koback and SoRodorick Thompson are on the practice squad.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: RBs to Sit

Charbonnet is dealing with a bone bruise in his knee, but he's expected to play in Week 14 at San Francisco. We don't yet know if Kenneth Walker III (oblique) will play also after he's missed the past two games, and if he's out, then that keeps Charbonnet in the lead role for Seattle. He was solid in Week 13 at Dallas with 19 carries for 60 yards and a touchdown, along with one catch for 39 yards on two targets. But he struggled in Week 12 against San Francisco with 9.8 PPR points on 14 carries for 47 yards and four catches for 11 yards on four targets. Going into San Francisco for the rematch won't be easy for Charbonnet, and the 49ers are No. 5 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs this year.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Diagnosed with bruise

Charbonnet suffered a knee bruise during Thursday's game against Dallas, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Charbonnet exited the contest in the fourth quarter, though it appears that he avoided any significant injury. With nine days to recover until Seattle's next contest, he may be available for a matchup against the 49ers.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Suffers knee injury

Charbonnet suffered a knee injury in Thursday's game against Dallas and is doubtful to return, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Charbonnet was injured in the fourth quarter and spotted in the injury tent. The extent of the issue is unclear, but Seattle is already dealing with an injury in the backfield with Kenneth Walker (oblique) sidelined. Prior to exiting, Charbonnet tallied 99 total yards and a touchdown.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Pacing backfield again

Charbonnet is in line to lead the Seahawks backfield Thursday in Dallas with Kenneth Walker (oblique) inactive, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Charbonnet will fill in for Walker for a second consecutive contest after handling the bulk of work afforded Seattle running backs last Thursday against the 49ers. In that outing, he earned a career-high 87 percent snap share and had 18 touches for 58 yards from scrimmage. Charbonnet still is in search of the first touchdown of his career, and his quest for one may be difficult Thursday against a Cowboys defense that has surrendered the eighth-fewest TDs (six) to opposing running backs in 11 games this season.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Charbonnet didn't have a great game in Week 12 against the 49ers with Kenneth Walker III (oblique) out, but there were some positives. And hopefully things improve in Week 13 at Dallas with Walker expected to be out again. Against San Francisco, Charbonnet handled 18 total touches, including four catches on four targets. He only had 58 total yards, but he played 88 percent of the snaps. I don't expect that to change if he remains in the lead role, and Charbonnet now has 14 catches on 15 targets in his past three games. It's a tough matchup against the Cowboys, who are No. 4 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, but I like Charbonnet as a flex in PPR in Week 13.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Inefficient in starting assignment

Charbonnet rushed 14 times for 47 yards and secured all four targets for 11 yards in the Seahawks' 31-13 loss to the 49ers on Thursday. The rookie back got the starting call as expected with Kenneth Walker (oblique) sidelined and unsurprisingly found efficiency hard to come by against an aggressive 49ers defense. Charbonnet's longest run went for a modest 10 yards, and seven of his 11 receiving yards came on one catch. With Seattle having just a standard seven-day period between games ahead a Week 13 Thursday night road battle versus the Cowboys, there's a possibility Walker still isn't healthy enough to suit up against Dallas.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Starting role awaits Thursday

Charbonnet is in line to serve as Seattle's lead back Thursday against San Francisco with Kenneth Walker (oblique) listed as doubtful for the Week 12 contest and not expected to play, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. Though Walker is on track to miss his first game of the season, the Seahawks already got an extended glimpse of Charbonnet in a leading role when Walker played just seven snaps in this past Sunday's loss to the Rams before going down with an oblique strain. Charbonnet dominated the work in the backfield following Walker's departure, finishing the day with 15 carries for 47 yards to go with six catches for 22 yards on six targets. Seattle will have DeeJay Dallas and Kenny McIntosh around as additional depth out of the backfield, but the former profiles as more of a third-down/pass-catching specialist, while the latter is a rookie seventh-round pick who has yet to make his NFL debut. With that in mind, Charbonnet could be poised for one of the heavier snap counts and workloads among all running backs Week 12, though a relatively difficult matchup against a San Francisco defense that has allowed 4.0 yards per carry and five rushing touchdowns this season may lower his overall ceiling a bit.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: RBs to Sit

Charbonnet was worth adding in all leagues with Kenneth Walker III (oblique) injured, but I don't want to start Charbonnet as anything more than a flex in Week 12 against the 49ers. I love what Charbonnet did against the Rams in Week 11 when Walker got hurt with 21 total touches, including six catches for 22 yards on six targets. He now has 11 targets in his past two games for 10 catches, and I hope he stays in the pass-catching role with Walker out. Seattle could opt to make Charbonnet the main rusher and use DeeJay Dallas or Kenny McIntosh on passing downs, which would limit Charbonnet's upside. This is also a tough matchup against the 49ers, who are No. 10 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Lead back after starter exits

Charbonnet had 15 carries for 47 yards and six receptions on as many targets for 22 yards after taking over as lead back following Kenneth Walker's (oblique) early departure in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Rams. Walker recorded just five touches before leaving Sunday's contest with what is now being described as a "legit" injury to the starter's oblique, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Charbonnet was already seeing his role increase gradually while playing alongside Walker this season, so it wasn't too surprising to see head coach Pete Carroll primarily use the rookie to replace Walker's 20-plus touches. Charbonnet wound up touching the ball 21 times Sunday, which smashed the previous high of 10 he tied last week against Washington. Early reports indicate that Walker could miss some time, starting with Thursday's division matchup against the 49ers. If that holds true, Charbonnet's fantasy stock would receive a major boost for as long as Walker is out. The 22-year-old is averaging 4.9 yards per carry and 5.4 yards per reception through nine games as a backup this season.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: New high of 11 touches in win

Charbonnet had six carries for 44 yards and caught four of five targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 29-26 win over the Commanders. Charbonnet's 11 combined touches represented a new season high for the rookie, which comes on the heels of out-snapping starter Kenneth Walker in a blowout loss to Baltimore in Week 9. The latter scenario was likely the result of the one-sided affair that took place in Baltimore, but Charbonnet maintained the increased role against Washington even with the score being close from start to finish. The second-round running back did not see an increase in playing time at the expense of starter Kenneth Walker, who finished Sunday's tilt with 127 combined yards and a touchdown on 20 touches. Charbonnet remains an option for those in deeper formats while possibly having value as a stash or insurance policy heading into Week 11's matchup against the Rams next Sunday.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Sleeper RBs

The Seahawks want to get their run game going, which should mean good things for Kenneth Walker III. He's a must-start running back in all leagues heading into Week 10 against Washington. But Charbonnet has played more snaps than Walker in each of the past two games against Cleveland and Baltimore, and we'll see if that leads to even more work against the Commanders. I'm not expecting a huge outing from Charbonnet, but he could be a flex option in deeper leagues. Washington has allowed a running back to score at least 13 PPR points in four games in a row.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Week 10 Adds (RB Preview)

Two weeks in a row Charbonnet has played more snaps than Ken Walker. We don't think this trend will continue, and Charbonnet isn't seeing enough touches to be a starter, but he should certainly be rostered in more than 65% of leagues. If he takes over this backfield he will be a top-15 running back on a weekly basis.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Week 10 Waiver Priority List

For the second game in a row, Charbonnet played more snaps than Kenneth Walker III, and it's definitely something to monitor moving forward. The Seahawks are struggling offensively the past two games against Cleveland and Baltimore, and Pete Carroll could opt to make some changes, which might benefit Charbonnet. That said, I don't expect Charbonnet to overtake Walker any time soon, but I do want to stash Charbonnet on my bench just in case something happens in his favor. He's worth adding for 5-10 percent of your FAB.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Leads backfield in snaps again

Charbonnet rushed four times for eight yards and caught his lone target for five yards in Sunday's 37-3 loss to the Ravens. Charbonnet out-snapped Kenneth Walker for the second straight week, although Walker led the backfield in touches, turning nine carries into 16 yards and catching a pass for a one-yard gain. Walker may have been battling an injury last week that limited his workload, but he wasn't on the injury report for Week 9. Instead, it appears Charbonnet was called on more because he's the better pass catcher and this game turned against Seattle early. This backfield could flip in the rookie's favor at any moment, but it's still going to be tough to trust him for fantasy purposes until he actually begins to handle more touches than Walker.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Sleeper RBs

I don't expect Charbonnet to play more than Kenneth Walker III in Week 9 at Baltimore, but I also didn't expect that to happen in Week 8 against Cleveland. However, Charbonnet ended up playing more snaps than Walker (34-24) for the first time all season, and maybe that's because Walker came into the week dealing with a calf injury. For Week 9, you can consider Charbonnet a flex option, and he did well against the Browns with five carries for 53 yards and two catches for 11 yards on two targets. Walker, meanwhile, had eight carries for 66 yards and one catch for 4 yards on two targets, and he remains a No. 2 running back in all leagues. But Charbonnet could be building momentum, and he might be worth starting as a flex in deeper leagues.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Week 9 Adds (RB Preview)

It's a stretch to start Charbonnet this week, so he may belong in the stash section, but I want to stress how imperative it is to make sure he's rostered in your league. If Ken Walker misses a game Charbonnet is going to be a top-12 running back. Also, if we get another game where Charbonnet plays more than Walker in Week 9, we'll view the rookie as much more than a handcuff.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Not expected to face Arizona

Charbonnet (hamstring) is not expected to suit up for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Charbonnet is officially listed as questionable, but his hamstring issue looks like it will cause him to miss the first game of his career. In that case, DeeJay Dallas will be in line to operate as the No. 2 option behind top running back Kenneth Walker. Confirmation on Charbonnet's status will arrive when Seattle releases its inactive list roughly 90 minutes ahead of Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff.
