Player Outlook
Schultz signed with the Texans this offseason, and he should remain a low-end No. 1 Fantasy tight end in all leagues. He's worth drafting with a mid- to late-round pick in all formats. Houston has a new quarterback in C.J. Stroud, who should find Schultz to be a reliable target. Schultz might end up as the best receiving threat for the Texans given their receiving corps, which features Nico Collins, John Metchie III and Robert Woods as the likely top three options. Schultz has been a quality Fantasy tight end for the Cowboys over the past three seasons, averaging at least 9.1 PPR points per game in each year over that span. Granted, he did that with Dak Prescott for the majority of that time, and going from Prescott to Stroud is a likely downgrade. But Schultz should also be featured in Houston, which is something to covet from a tight end you can draft in his range. He's not an elite Fantasy option, but he should be a weekly starter in all formats.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Misses Thursday's practice

Schultz (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday. Schultz, who missed this past Sunday's game against the Broncos, logged a limited practice Wednesday, so his downgrade to non-participation a day later is notable, though it could potentially be indicative of load management rather than a setback. Friday's injury report should add valuable context with regard to the tight end's status for Sunday's game at the Jets.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Misses another practice

Schultz (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Schultz didn't practice Wednesday either, making Friday's session an important one in terms of determining the tight end's availability for Sunday's game against the Broncos. If Schultz isn't able to play this weekend, Brevin Jordan and Eric Saubert would be left as the Texans' available tight ends.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Forgotten in loss

Schultz caught one of two targets for two yards in Sunday's 24-21 loss to Jacksonville in Week 12. The two targets were a season low for Schultz, who entered the contest with nearly six targets per game. Still, his five touchdowns over the last eight games, coupled with a productive passing offense led by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, make Schultz an attractive option each week. Further to that point, the tight end is tied for the team lead in red-zone targets (10) along with Nico Collins and Tank Dell.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Finds end zone in Week 11 win

Schultz secured two of three targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 21-16 win over the Cardinals on Sunday. Schultz played second fiddle to the Texans' top wideout trio, but he still found his way to a serviceable fantasy day with a 20-yard touchdown grab to answer an early Cardinals touchdown in the first quarter. Schultz has multiple receptions in all but one game this season, and although he saw a big downturn in yardage after amassing 201 on 14 receptions over the last two weeks, he remains a trusted target for C.J. Stroud heading into a Week 12 home showdown against the Jaguars.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Turns in full practice

Schultz (hamstring) was a full practice participant Thursday. Schultz opened the week as a limited practice participant, but after he took every rep Thursday, the hamstring issue doesn't look as though it'll be anything that prevents him from playing Sunday against the Cardinals. The tight end began his tenure with the Texans in rather humble fashion through the first four weeks of the season, but he's since emerged as a viable fantasy starter -- even in shallower leagues. Over his last five games, he's put together a 27-332-3 receiving line on 39 targets.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Limited by hamstring issue

Schultz was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice due to a hamstring injury. Schultz logged 66 of a possible 75 snaps on offense in the Texans' 30-27 win over the Bengals this past Sunday, but now that the tight end now finds himself on the team's lengthy injury report ahead of a Week 11 game against the Cardinals, his status is worth monitoring. Over his last two outings, Schultz has combined for 14 catches on 17 targets for 201 yards and a touchdown.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Massive output in Week 9 win

Schultz brought in 10 of 11 targets for 130 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 39-37 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday. Schultz's career-best day saw him lead the Texans in receptions and tie with Tank Dell for the team lead in targets. The veteran tight end also recorded his fourth touchdown of the campaign on a nine-yard grab early in the fourth quarter, his fourth trip to the end zone in the last five games. Schultz has developed quick chemistry with C.J. Stroud, and despite the amount of weapons available to the rookie signal-caller, Schultz should continue playing a key role in a Week 10 road matchup against the Bengals.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Top DFS Play

Schultz maintained his target share in Week 8, the total pass volume just fell off. That won't be the case in Week 9 because the Texans have no reason to believe they can run the ball against Tampa Bay. He's seen 42% of C.J. Stroud's targets to the end zone and has 22 targets in his last three games.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Bust Candidate (Lineup Decisions)

It's a little tricky to trust Schultz with Dell back, but the hope is that the combination of Schultz's matchup and the trust he's gained with Stroud will lead to modest numbers including, hopefully, a touchdown. It also helps that the Texans have struggled to run the ball, so extra chances to pick up short targets could make a difference. I would start Kincaid over Schultz in half- and full-PPR, but not non-PPR. I would also start Schultz over Jonnu Smith and definitely over Taysom Hill.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: TEs to Start

While I'm excited to have Nathaniel Dell back from his one-game absence due to a concussion, I hope his return does not negatively impact Schultz, who was on fire prior to the bye. In three games prior to Week 7, Schultz scored at least 13.2 PPR points in each outing. He had three touchdowns over that span, but he also had 17 targets, 11 catches and 126 yards in his past two contests against Atlanta and New Orleans. The Panthers are down safety Jeremy Chinn (quad) and pass rusher Yetur Gross-Matos (hamstring), and Schultz should be considered a top-10 Fantasy tight end in this matchup.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Scores TD in third straight

Schultz caught four of seven targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Saints. Schultz extended his touchdown streak to three games by catching a one-yard score in the first quarter. He also led the Texans in targets while finishing second in receiving yards behind Nico Collins (80), whom Schultz tied for the team lead in catches. After a slow start to the season, the tight end has found chemistry with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, and Schultz will look to pick up where he left off in Week 8 against the Panthers following a Week 7 bye.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Bust Alert (Start/Sit)

Schultz has scored at least 13.2 PPR points in each of his past two games against the Steelers and Falcons, and he beat up Atlanta for seven catches for 65 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets in Week 5. But the Falcons are one of the best matchups in the NFL, while Schultz's matchup with New Orleans in Week 6 is one of the worst, especially with Saints safety Marcus Maye back from his three-game suspension. New Orleans has allowed just one tight end to score a touchdown this season, which was Cade Otton in Week 4, but no tight end has over 49 receiving yards. And the Saints just held Hunter Henry to no catches on two targets in Week 5. I would only use Schultz as a low-end starter in deeper leagues in Week 6.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Week 6 Early Waiver Targets (Add/Drop)

It took a month, but Dalton Schultz finally looked like the guy we expected when he signed with the Texans in Week 5. He led the team in targets, catches, and yards, while catching C.J. Stroud's only touchdown. Schultz has been marginalized by the swift emergence of Tank Dell and Nico Collins in the early going this season, so he probably benefited from Dell leaving Sunday's game with a concussion – WR Robert Woods also left the game for a stretch. This Texans passing offense is suddenly one you want some exposure to, and Schultz has now scored in consecutive games. He's in the streaming TE discussion for Week 6.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Another touchdown in Week 5 loss

Schultz brought in seven of 10 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 21-19 loss to the Falcons on Sunday. Schultz led the Texans across the board in receptions, receiving yards and targets for the afternoon with figures that ranked as his best of the season. The veteran tight end also found the end zone for the second straight contest when he recorded an 18-yard touchdown grab with 1:49 remaining that momentarily put Houston ahead. Schultz will look to extend his scoring streak to three games in a Week 6 home clash with the Saints.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Three targets in win

Schultz caught one of three targets for nine yards in Sunday's 37-17 win over the Jaguars. Schultz once again paced the Texans' tight end group in snap count (38, 68 percent share), but it was Brevin Jordan who scored a touchdown Sunday. Houston is still searching for an effective rushing attack, averaging just 3.1 yards per carry through three weeks, so Schultz (82.9 percent season share) and Teagan Quitoriano (40.6 percent) will continue to get the bulk of the snaps at TE due to their blocking skills.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Upgraded to full Thursday

Schultz (thigh) was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday's practice. Following a limited session Wednesday, Schultz appears ready to roll for Sunday's Week 2 date with the Colts. The veteran tight end played 81 percent of the offensive snaps last week against the Ravens but turned four targets into just two catches for four yards. His playing time keeps him in the fantasy mix at a shallow position.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Opens week with limited practice

Schultz was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a thigh injury. After a disappointing Texans debut this past Sunday against the Ravens in which he picked up only four receiving yards, Schultz's Week 2 availability could be in question. The fact that he at least practiced in some capacity is an encouraging sign, but the tight end's status will be worth monitoring nonetheless before the Texans take on the Colts on Sunday.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: TEs to Sit

We'll see how Schultz does in his first game with the Texans, but I'm nervous to trust him at Baltimore. It's really that I'm nervous about rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud making his first start on the road against this defense, and all of his weapons could struggle. I'm hopeful that Schultz will deliver a strong performance for Fantasy managers counting on him this week, but I don't consider him a top-15 tight end in the majority of leagues.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Makes exhibition appearance

Schultz (ribs) had two receptions on three targets for 10 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to Miami. Fantasy managers will be relieved to see Schultz get into an exhibition contest after dealing with a rib injury out of camp. The 27-year-old signed a one-year deal to move across the state and start for the Texans after four seasons with the Cowboys. With little competition for targets at tight end in Houston, Schultz could see his usage and fantasy value rise from the already solid levels they boasted during his time in Dallas. Expect the receiving threat to be one of rookie C.J. Stroud's favorite targets this upcoming season.

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Returns to practice

Schultz (ribs) was back on the practice field Friday, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports. Schultz missed time last week, but he's back to lead the tight end group.
