  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Solid contribution in win

Roddy provided four points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, two steals and assist across 22 minutes in Wednesday's 116-102 victory over Detroit. This game was also Roddy's fourth consecutive start since replacing Santi Aldama on Nov. 29, and he is averaging 9.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.3 blocks through 25.3 minutes in that span. The Grizzlies are also 3-1 since playing Roddy with the starters, so it seems likely he will continue his role for the foreseeable future.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Drops 19 points in spot start

Roddy accumulated 19 points (7-11 FG, 5-9 3Pt), six rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes during Wednesday's 105-91 win over the Jazz. Roddy moved into the starting lineup Wednesday, replacing Santi Aldama, who was relegated to the bench. His 19 points marked a season high, and it was the third consecutive game in which he has tallied double-digit points. The Grizzles are basically rolling the dice on anyone and everyone to see if they can find a combination that works. Roddy is certainly not a must-roster guy but could be worth a flier heading into Friday's game against the Mavericks.

Roddy is in the starting five for Wednesday's game versus Utah, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Roddy will replace Santi Aldama in the starting lineup Wednesday. Roddy tallied 16 points and three assists in 32 minutes during his only other starting appearance this season.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Fills stat sheet off bench Tuesday

Roddy produced 17 points (6-17 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals over 31 minutes during Tuesday's 134-107 loss to the Lakers. The nature of the game allowed the Grizzlies' reserves to play more than they usually do, and Roddy was one of the players that took advantage of the opportunity to deliver a strong fantasy line. However, this was just the third time he scored in double digits this season, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect too much from him going forward.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Back to bench

Roddy will not start in Sunday's game against the Trail Blazers. Roddy was moved into the starting lineup for Memphis' previous matchup, in which he posted 16 points and three rebounds, but he will be moved back to the bench in favor of Xavier Tillman. It would not be surprising to see Memphis' starting lineup continue to change with their struggles to start the season.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Posts 16 points, but little else

Roddy registered 16 points (8-14 FG, 0-4 3Pt) and three rebounds across 32 minutes in Friday's 115-113 loss to the Trail Blazers. Roddy entered the starting five in place of Xavier Tillman, who moved to the bench while the Grizzlies favored more of a small-ball lineup featuring Jaren Jackson at center. As a result of the promotion to the top unit, Roddy was able to clear the 30-minute mark for the first time in 2023-24, and though he also posted a new season-high in scoring, his contributions were lacking in other areas. It's unclear if Roddy will stick in the starting five moving forward or if Friday's lineup configuration was a one-game experiment, but the second-year player is likely to face a threat for playing time sooner or later when Santi Aldama (ankle) is cleared to make his season debut.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Moves into starting five

Roddy will move into the starting lineup for Friday's game against Portland. Roddy will replace Xavier Tillman in the first unit. The Grizzlies are 0-5 to begin the season, so it's not a surprise to see them shake things up. Roddy has played pretty well, to his credit, averaging 8.2 points on 48.6 percent shooting from the field.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Solid effort off bench in defeat

Roddy racked up 14 points (5-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one block over 24 minutes during Saturday's 113-106 loss to the Wizards. Roddy has been making the most of his playing opportunities in a depleted frontcourt that is currently without Steven Adams (knee), Santi Aldama (ankle) and Brandon Clarke (Achilles). This was his first double-digit scoring output of the campaign, and he's averaging 7.7 points with 4.3 rebounds per game through three outings. Those numbers won't make waves in fantasy outside of deeper leagues, but he might be a player worth keeping close tabs on if he starts seeing an uptick in his minutes going forward.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Option picked up

The Grizzlies exercised Roddy's third-year team option Monday. This transaction locks Roddy up with the Grizzlies through the 2024-25 season. With so many injuries in Memphis, Roddy could potentially have a much bigger role this season. As a rookie, Roddy compiled averages of 6.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 three-pointers in 18.0 minutes per contest.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Back to bench

Roddy will come off the bench for Friday's preseason game against the Bucks. The Grizzlies are giving Ziaire Williams a look with the starters Friday evening. All three of Roddy, Williams and Jake LaRavia have played well in the preseason, leaving coach Taylor Jenkins with some difficult rotation questions while Ja Morant (suspension) is unavailable.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Gets starting nod

Roddy is in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Hawks. Roddy is coming off a solid showing in the preseason opener against the Bucks, finishing with 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 108-102 win. Roddy should see decent minutes off the bench in 2023-24, but he will have an expanded role in this one since Memphis will sit most of its expected starters in this one.

Roddy won't start in Game 1 against the Lakers on Sunday, Harrison Faigen of SBNation.com reports. • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Starting Wednesday

Roddy will enter the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockets, Rob Fischer of Bally Sports Southeast reports. Roddy will be filling in for the suspended Dillon Brooks, and he'll be joined in the first unit by Tyus Jones, Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Xavier Tillman. In his previous two starts this season, Roddy registered 7.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Another strong performance

Roddy posted 19 points (8-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 26 minutes during Monday's 104-88 victory over Dallas. Don't look now, but Roddy has dropped double-digit scoring in two straight games, logging at least 23 minutes in both outings. Of course, the performances could also be nothing more than a mirage, brought about by favorable circumstances. Brandon Clarke's season-ending Achilles injury should keep Roddy in the Memphis rotation for the foreseeable future, but his minutes could drop off a bit once he's no longer hitting three-quarters of his shots from the field, as has been the case between the past two contests.

  • Grizzlies' David Roddy: Explodes for 17 points in fourth

Roddy chipped in 24 points (10-13 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds, two steals and one block and two steals in 23 minutes during Saturday's 112-108 victory over Dallas. Roddy was electric in the fourth quarter, knocking down seven of eight shot attempts -- including three of four attempts from beyond the arc -- en route to producing 17 of his career-high 24 points. The rookie has now appeared in five straight games, seeing double-digit minutes in three of those contests. He looks as though he could have a regular spot in the rotation the rest of the way after Brandon Clarke (Achilles) suffered a season-ending injury earlier this month.
