The Cardinals designated Wilkinson (neck) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Wilkinson has been out since Week 7 due to a neck injury but is now one step closer to making his return. The team has 21 days to officially activate the 28-year-old, who was able to practice in a limited capacity Wednesday.

Wilkinson (neck) was designated to return from IR on Wednesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Wilkinson has missed the minimum of four weeks and will now have a 21-day window to practice with the team before he'll need to be added to the 53-man roster. However, the 28-year-old can return to play as soon as Sunday against the Steelers.

The Cardinals placed Wilkinson (neck) on injured reserve Saturday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Wilkinson was set to miss his second straight game of the season after sustaining a neck issue in practice leading up to Week 7. He'll be forced to sit out for the next four games and will be eligible to return against the Rams on Nov. 26. Dennis Daley -- who signed a two-year deal with Arizona in free agency -- is set to start at left guard in Wilkinson's absence.

The 28-year-old was held out of practice all week, and he'll miss his second consecutive game this Sunday as he continues to rehab from a neck injury. Dennis Daley is expected to get the start at left guard in Wilkinson's stead.

The Cardinals signed Wilkinson on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Wilkinson will now join up with the Cardinals after starting nine games for the Falcons last year. With Arizona currently lacking depth along the offensive line, the 28-year-old could have the opportunity to compete for a starting job heading into next season.
