Less than a decade ago 4% of the world’s rough diamonds
were in the hands of rebel gangs that used these misappropriated
resources to finance wars against legitimate African governments.
The Kimberley Process is to be applauded for dramatically reducing
the scope of the issue. However, despite the best efforts of many
governments, areas of conflict still remain.
