Saints' Chris Olave: Misses practice with illness
Olave was sidelined for practice Thursday due to an illness, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
After sustaining a concussion in the Saints' Week 12 loss to the Falcons, Olave was able to quickly clear the five-step protocol and suited up in this past Sunday's loss to the Lions, logging a 61 percent snap share while finishing with five catches for 119 yards on eight targets. Olave wasn't included on the Saints' initial Week 14 injury report, and while he seems to have avoided any setbacks in his recovery from the concussion following his return to action this past weekend, he's now apparently under the weather. Assuming Olave is able to get back on the practice field Friday, he should be cleared to play Sunday against the Panthers while serving as the No. 1 option in the passing game for either Derek Carr (concussion/rib/shoulder) or Jameis Winston.

Saints' Chris Olave: Clears century mark in loss
Olave brought in five of eight targets for 119 yards in the Saints' 33-28 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
Olave was able to make an accelerated recovery from the concussion that forced an early Week 12 exit, and he finished with a team-high yardage total by a wide margin while tying for the lead in targets as well. The speedster didn't seem to show any ill effects from the head injury, and he's now recorded at least 94 receiving yards in three straight games while eclipsing the 100-yard mark in back-to-back contests for the first time on the campaign. Olave will next do battle against the Panthers' typically stingy pass defense in a Week 14 divisional clash.

Saints' Chris Olave: Suiting up in Week 13
Olave (concussion) is listed as active Sunday against the Lions.
Olave entered the concussion protocol last Sunday in Atlanta in the third quarter, but not before notching seven catches (on nine targets) for 114 yards. He proceeded to take part in all three Week 13 practices, including a full session Friday, but he closed the week still needing to gain clearance from an independent neurologist. Coach Dennis Allen told Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune at the time that "there's a chance" that Olave would do so ahead of Sunday's contest, and Adam Schefter of ESPN and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network eventually reported the wide receiver was in line to suit up. Indeed, that has come to pass, and Olave now will serve as the clear-cut top pass catcher for quarterback Derek Carr versus a Detroit defense that has given up the fourth-most touchdowns (14) to opposing wide receivers in 11 games this season.

Saints' Chris Olave: Expected to face Lions
Olave (concussion) is expected to suit up Sunday versus Detroit, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Olave is officially listed as questionable for the Week 13 contest, but he's expected to fully clear the NFL's concussion protocol and take the field. Official word on Olave's status will arrive when New Orleans releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. The Saints are already set to be without Rashid Shaheed (thigh), and Michael Thomas (knee) remains on IR, so Olave's availability will be crucial for the New Orleans passing game.

Saints' Chris Olave: Should be good to go Sunday
Olave (concussion) is expected to be able to suit up for Sunday's game against Detroit, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Olave sustained a concussion during last week's loss to the Falcons, and he has not officially cleared the league's protocol for head injuries. However, he was able to participate in full during Friday's practice, and it appears he should be ready to go in time for Sunday's 1:00 pm kickoff versus the Lions. With Rashid Shaheed (thigh) already ruled out and Michael Thomas (knee) on IR, Olave's presence would provide a significant upgrade at wideout ahead of A.T. Perry, Lynn Bowden and Keith Kirkwood.
