Player Outlook
Henry will likely remain the No. 1 tight end for the Patriots this season, but he has competition for targets in new addition Mike Gesicki. Henry is only worth drafting with a late-round pick in tight-end premium leagues. In two seasons in New England, Henry has underperformed with 91 catches for 1,112 yards and 11 touchdowns on 134 targets, and he averaged just 6.1 PPR points per game in 2022. He should improve in 2023 with a better offensive system under new coordinator Bill O'Brien, but Gesicki should prove to be tougher competition for targets compared to Jonnu Smith. At best, Henry could be a red-zone threat for the Patriots like he was in 2021 when he scored nine touchdowns, and he averaged 9.7 PPR points per game that year. But if he plays to that level, just add him off the waiver wire.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Records pair of TDs in win

Henry brought in all three targets for 40 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots' 21-18 win over the Steelers on Thursday night. Henry's breakout night, like the performance of the Patriots' typically moribund offense as a whole, was considerably unexpected. The veteran tight end recorded eight- and 24-yard scoring grabs in the second quarter, the second an especially impressive reception among multiple defenders. Henry had only crossed the goal line once since Week 2 prior to Thursday, and it remains to be seen if he'll be able to replicate his numbers against a stingy Chiefs defense in a Week 15 home battle on Sunday, Dec. 17.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Another dud despite new QB

Henry caught two of four targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 6-0 loss to the Chargers. A change in starting quarterback from Mac Jones to Bailey Zappe didn't lead to an increase in production from either Henry or New England's offense as a whole. After topping 50 yards three times through Week 4, Henry hasn't reached 40 yards in a game since. The struggling tight end will try to get more involved Thursday against the Steelers.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: No targets versus Giants

Henry wasn't targeted while playing 46 of 68 snaps on offense in Sunday's 10-7 loss to the Giants. Over his two previous games, Henry recorded a combined seven catches on 11 targets, but none of the Patriots tight ends caught a pass Sunday in a contest marked by the struggles of quarterbacks Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe. Henry will look to rebound Week 13 against the Chargers, but given the current state of New England's offense, he looks like a touchdown-dependent fantasy option.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Three grabs in Week 10

Henry caught three of five targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Colts. The Patriots' passing attack struggled badly once again, with Mac Jones getting benched in favor of Bailey Zappe for the final possession, but Henry still tied Rhamondre Stevenson for second on the team in targets behind Demario Douglas' nine. The veteran tight end has yet to reach 60 receiving yards in a game this season but has caught multiple passes in eight of 10 contests, and Henry's been reliant on TDs for any fantasy upside heading into New England's Week 11 bye.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

The natural reaction to seeing Henry have a big game is to start him in hopes he can do it again. He did exactly that in Weeks 1 and 2 this season. But the Colts matchup is tough on him, and easy on his teammates. I'd be mildly surprised if he had more than five targets and especially surprised if he had another game with 13-plus PPR points. I'd rather start Trey McBride, David Njoku and Cade Otton.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: TEs to Sit

It was great to see Henry score a touchdown in Week 9 against Washington, and that was his first touchdown since Week 2. He also had seven targets, which was his most involvement since Week 2 as well, and he finished the game with four catches for 39 yards. But I don't love this matchup for him in Week 10 against the Colts in Germany. Indianapolis has allowed just one touchdown to a tight end through the air this season (Taysom Hill scored twice on the ground in Week 8), and Evan Engram (twice), Mark Andrews and David Njoku have been held to under 55 receiving yards against the Colts. I would only consider Henry as a starter in deeper leagues in Week 10.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Week 10 Waiver Priority List

The Patriots lost Kendrick Bourne (ACL) for the season in Week 8 and didn't have DeVante Parker (concussion) in Week 9 against Washington. That might have been why Henry had his most targets since Week 2 with seven, and he finished with four catches for 39 yards and a touchdown against the Commanders. We'll see what happens moving forward, but it's worth adding Henry in deeper leagues for up to 5 percent of your FAB to find out heading into Week 10 against the Colts in Germany. Henry could emerge as a weekly starter in all leagues.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Scores first TD since Week 2

Henry caught four of seven targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Commanders. In the team's first game since leading receiver Kendrick Bourne suffered a season-ending ACL tear, Henry notched his highest yardage total since Week 4 and scored his first touchdown since Week 2. The touchdown came from 14 yards out in the second quarter. Henry tied wide receivers Demario Douglas and JuJu Smith-Schuster for the team lead in targets, and the veteran tight end should remain a key part of the Patriots' passing game in Week 10 against the Colts in Frankfurt.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Three grabs in Week 8 loss

Henry brought in all three targets for 28 yards in the Patriots' 31-17 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. The veteran tight end tied Kendrick Bourne (knee) for second on the Patriots in receptions while finishing third in receiving yards. Henry has, in relative terms, bounced back from a particularly rough two-game stretch in Weeks 5 and 6 during which he posted just one catch for seven yards on five targets, now having recorded a 5-55 line on six targets in the ensuing pair of contests. Nevertheless, as with the rest of the Patriots' pass catchers, his output is seemingly capped by Mac Jones' limitations under center, although he could see a larger role in a Week 9 home matchup against the Commanders if DeVante Parker (head) and Bourne are sidelined.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Good to go for Week 8

Henry (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports. Henry was removed from the injury report Friday and will look to shake his recent slump Sunday in Miami. After notching at least five targets in each of New England's first four games and topping 50 yards three times over that span, Henry has just eight targets and 34 receiving yards in the last three games combined. In the Patriots' previous matchup with Miami in Week 2, Henry caught six of seven targets for 52 yards and a touchdown.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Still limited Thursday

Henry (ankle) remained a limited participant at practice Thursday. Henry was also limited Wednesday, so unless he practices fully Friday, the tight end will likely approach Sunday's game against the Dolphins with an injury designation. If he's active this weekend, Henry would continue to work in a timeshare at tight end with Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown. Through seven appearances on the season, Henry has hauled in 20 of his 31 targets for 210 yards and two touchdowns.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Limited practice Wednesday

Henry (ankle) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday. Henry missed practice last Wednesday and Thursday due to the same injury but returned to a limited session Friday and was listed as questionable ahead of the Patriots' Week 7 game against Buffalo. He ended up suiting up Sunday in the Patriots' 29-25 win over the Bills, playing half of the snaps on offense while catching two of his three targets for 27 yards. With no reported setbacks coming out of that game, Henry's listed limitations Wednesday could well be maintenance-related. Still, he'll likely need to practice fully by Friday in order to avoid taking an injury designation into this weekend's game against the Dolphins.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Two catches against Bills

Henry, who was on the field for 30 of a possible 60 snaps on offense in Sunday's 29-25 win over the Bills, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, caught two of his three targets in the contest for 27 yards. Henry had his ankle rolled up on during Week 6 action and headed into the game listed as questionable, but he ended up in uniform Sunday and shared TE work with Mike Gesicki (30 snaps, two catches) and Pharaoh Brown (23 snaps, two catches). With just three catches for 34 yards over his last three outings, Henry profiles as a TD-dependent fantasy dart ahead of this coming weekend's game against the Dolphins.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Suits up Sunday

Henry (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bills. Henry, who had his ankle rolled up on during last weekend's loss to the Raiders, missed practice Wednesday and Thursday but returned to a limited session Friday and approached the contest listed as questionable. With his active status versus Buffalo confirmed, Henry is slated to continue to work in a time share with fellow TE Mike Gesicki, with Pharaoh Brown also mixing in. It's an arrangement that to date has resulted in Henry catching 18 of his 28 targets for 183 yards and two TD in six games, while Gesicki has recorded a 15/144/0 receiving line in that span. Over his last two appearances, Henry -- who scored TDs in each of his first two outings this season -- has combined for just one catch for seven yards on five targets, a trend that makes him a hit-or-miss fantasy option in Week 7.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Expected to play Sunday

Henry (ankle) is expected to suit up for Sunday's game against Buffalo, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Henry missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before turning in a limited session Friday, and he is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game. After a hot start to the season, Henry has recorded just one catch for seven yards on five targets over the last two weeks. With wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion) expected to be unavailable versus Buffalo, the Patriots could be forced to rely more upon Henry and fellow tight end Mike Gesicki in the passing game. The Patriots will officially reveal Henry's status when they release their inactive list 90 minutes before Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Questionable after limited practice

Henry (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills after returning to a limited practice Friday, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports. Henry, who had his ankle rolled up on during Week 6 action, missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, but his return to Friday's session, while capped, gives him a chance to be available this weekend. If, however, Henry is limited or out versus Buffalo, fellow TE Mike Gesicki would see increased work Week 7, while Pharaoh Brown also would be a candidate for added snaps. Either way, Henry's status will be confirmed before the first wave of games Sunday, with the Patriots kicking off at 1:00 p.m. ET.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Misses another practice

Henry (ankle) was listed as a non-participant in practice Thursday. Per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, Henry was spotted during the media-access portion of Thursday's session, but the tight end ended up being deemed a 'DNP' for the second straight day. What Henry is able to do Friday will be pivotal with regard to his chances of suiting up Sunday against the Bills. If he ends up out or limited this weekend, fellow TE Mike Gesicki would see increased work Week 7, with Pharaoh Brown also a candidate for added snaps.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Back at practice

Henry (ankle) was present for the media-access portion of Thursday's practice, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Henry didn't practice Wednesday, so the tight end's return to the field Thursday bodes well for his chances of being available for Sunday's game against the Bills. Chances are that Henry will be deemed a limited participant, and if so he likely will need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid a Week 7 injury designation.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: TEs to Sit

Henry is dealing with an ankle injury, and he missed practice Wednesday. Hopefully he can play, but I wouldn't start him against Buffalo. Henry's last two games have been awful with one catch for 7 yards on five targets against the Saints and Raiders, and he's also gone four games in a row without finding the end zone. Mac Jones is struggling, along with the entire Patriots offense, and it's hard to justify starting Henry against the Bills, who are No. 4 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends.

  • Patriots' Hunter Henry: Not at Wednesday's practice

Henry (ankle) didn't take part in practice Wednesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Henry suffered the ankle injury in this past Sunday's 21-17 loss to the Raiders. He managed to return to the game but finished with just one catch, giving him one reception over the past two games combined after the veteran tight end opened the season with 17 catches through four games. If Henry is sidelined this Sunday against the Bills, Mike Gesicki would step in as the Patriots' No. 1 tight end.
